We have had a very busy last few weeks taking putting up some food storage for the winter. We went down to Grandma Abbotts the other day to help her and she gave us a bunch of apples to bring home off of her trees, so I decided to bottle apple pie filling and applesauce. This was my very first first time making pie filling and applesauce and I would have to say it actually turned out beautiful and very yummy!! I was extremely happy with all of our hard work. The kids worked so hard to help me get everything done. Derek washed and rinsed and peeled apples, while Zach helped run the apple cores, slicer and Ashley helped do anything the boys would let her help do! She especially loved turning the handle on the corer/slicer and tasting the apples to make sure they were good enough for us!We also had so many tomatoes left from our garden I made homemade spaghetti/pizza sauce. I wished I could have done more but maybe next year when I plant alot more tomato plants and plant them earlier!
